Lashing A binding used to secure one object to another. (2)
Lay The direction, either left-or right-handed, of the twist of the strands forming
a rope. The tightness of the twist of the strands may be said to be hard medium or soft lay. (4), (8)
Left-handed Knot A mirrored or perverted knot, tied contrary to the prevailing
